This service offers treatment for inflammatory and infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and syphilis, and it is one of the largest uveitis treatment centers in the Northeast. It proficiently manages inflammatory diseases of the visual system, for example, pars planitis, and ocular manifestations of systemic disorders, including sarcoidosis, Lyme disease, and AIDS (and associated diseases). The Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science has extensive experience managing patients with HIV and has established an AIDS clinic to provide optimum care to patients with ocular manifestations of AIDS, for example, infectious retinitis, retinal detachment, and other disorders.
