CASE OF THE MONTH

CASE #21

WHY SHOULD A CT SCAN OF THE BRAIN BE PERFORMED AT THIS POINT?

To rule out intracranial calcification

RESULTS

  • Multiple calcific densities noted adjacent to the frontal horn lateral ventricle.
    - No mass lesion associated with these calcifications.
    - Likely subependymal nodules with calcification.
  • Hypodensity lesions noted in the left frontal lobe without mass effect, most likely tubers.
  • No intracranial mass lesion identified.
  • Bone windows show no evidence of fracture or osteolytic lesion.
